ラオス人民共和国（Lao People’s Democratic Republic）は、カンボジア、中国、ミャンマー、タイ、ベトナムの5か国に囲まれた内陸国です。国土は日本の63％程度の約24万km2。人口は約710万人で、そのうちの約70％が農業に従事しています。もともと化学肥料や農薬を多用した土地が少ないことを活かし、有機農業やGAPなどによる「クリーン農業」を国が強力に推進しています。

私たちはラオス南部のセコン県で農業を行っています。南部には標高約1200mのボラベン高原があり、この高原を少し下った標高約650mで60haの圃場を運営しています。

バタフライピーの生産

東南アジアの作物であるバタフライピーを栽培しています。 バタフライピーの花は天然の青い色素を持ち、現地ではお茶として楽しまれています。またpHによって赤色に変わる色素でもあり、世界的に注目されています。

バタフライピーの色素にはアントシアニンの一種であるテルナチンが含まれており、アンチエイジング効果や血液循環を向上させる機能、眼精疲労の予防効果が注目されています。現地では健康維持や体調の改善効果があるとされており、民間療法的に用いられてきたようです。

バタフライピーは無農薬、無化学肥料で栽培しています。乾季に灌水を行う事で、1年中収穫できます。 収穫された花は乾燥ハウスで乾燥後に出荷しています。バタフライピーの購入にご興味のある方は、ご連絡ください。

Farming location

Lao People’s Democratic Republic is a landlocked country surrounded by Cambodia, China, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. It has an area of 240,000 km2 and a population of 7,100,000 people, 70% of which are working in agriculture. The government focuses on clean agriculture by encouraging GAP and organic farming.

We operate in Sekong province, in the south. Our 60 ha farm is located at the Bolaven plateau, 650m above sea level.

Butterfly pea production

We grow butterfly peas, a plant native to southeast Asia. The flowers are enjoyed as tea by the locals. Its blue pigment changes color depending on acidity, making for an astonishing presentation.

The blue pigment comes from ternatin, a type of anthocyanin. Some of its benefits are anti-aging, improving blood circulation, and reducing eye fatigue.

Our butterfly peas are pesticide and chemical free. By using irrigation techniques, we are able to produce them year round. The flowers are dried and then exported. Feel free to inquiry about purchasing our stock.
